Marcela is part of the ensemble of Luzerner Theater, in Switzerland.

After the huge sucess with the Anti-Opera "Staatstheater" of Maurício Kagel, Marcela will also sing during the whole season in "Le nozze di Figaro" as Marcellina, "Macbeth" as Dama, "Perelà" as Archebisp and as Bianca in "The Rape of Lucretia".

In the summer 2021 she sang her first Carmen with Sinfonia Leipzig at Arena am Panometer.

Marcela's Biography

The Brazilian Mezzosoprano Marcela Rahal studied her master's degree in Opera singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig, in the class of KS Prof. Roland Schubert. She graduated from her Singing Bachelor at the University of São Paulo (USP) in Francisco Campos Class (Brazil).

She was also member of 2 Opera Studios: (2013-2015) EMESP Opera Studio and at the Opera Academy of the “Theatro São Pedro” (2015-2017), both in São Paulo, Brazil.

In Brazil and Europa she had a chance to perform a variety of roles such as Angelina/ La Cenerentola, Zweite Dame/ Die Zauberflöte, Giulia/ Balducci Il Noce di Benevento, Anna Maria Himmelhuber/ Scwergewicht, Nancy/ Albert Herring, Orlofsky/ Die Fledermaus as well as Marchesa Melibea/ Il Viaggio a Reims. She appeared also as Miss Jessel/ The Turn of the Screw, Elle/ La Voix Humaine, Miss Todd/ The Old maid and other more. In concert, she sang Mozart arias, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Mozart’s Requiem and Rossini ́s Petite Mass.

Marcela is the winner of various competitions including the Albert Lortzing Lions Club Singing Competition 2020, Linus Lerner Competition, Bauru Atlanta Competition and “Jovens Solistas OSESP” Competition. She was also a semifinalist on the well known 38th International Singing Competition "Hans Gabor" Belvedere.
